We are looking for Confirmed High School youth who are interested in joining the OLHOC Youth Leadership Team. Your ability to influence and lead others has been recognized, and we would like you to consider making a 1 year commitment to being a leader among your peers and community at OLHOC.
What is the Purpose of the Youth Leadership Team? The Team will:
Share their gifts and talents to help promote spiritual growth among the youth of OLHOC
Work with Marlen Coles (Youth Minister) and the adult core team and assist in planning and developing meaningful events for the Youth Ministry program and Confirmation preparation
Help recruit and work with other teens
Pray regularly for each other, fellow teens, the community, and the world.
Learn and grow to become lifelong disciples and leaders in the church.
Who can be a Youth Leader? Youth Leadership Team members must:
Be responsible teens in High School who have received the sacrament of Confirmation;
Be active in the life of the church, especially in attending weekly Mass, maintaining a sacramental and personal prayer life, active with OLHOC Youth Ministry;
Have a desire to grow in their faith and live in a manner online and in person that is consistent with being a disciple of Jesus Christ;
Set an example of Christian values and good character to their peers and the younger children they are serving.
WHAT DOES BEING A LIFE TEEN YOUTH LEADER LOOK LIKE?
Attend Life Nights (Youth Ministry) to be fed spiritually and to serve in various ways such as leading ice breakers/games, helping facilitate conversations in small groups….
Attend and serve during the monthly All Youth Night Mass (monthly) in a variety of ways such as a Lector, Greeter, Usher, Choir, Altar Server followed by Lifeen …..
Attend Life Teen Retreats/Camps to be fed spiritually, lead conversations in small groups, and lead games/activities.
Assist in various capacities with the Confirmation Preparation
Participate in prayer and service projects
Participate in fundraisers to help raise awareness and funds for the Youth Ministry Program
Attend Youth leadership Team Retreat and meetings when scheduled
Attend other special events
Once you have been accepted and served with the OLHOC Youth Leadership Team for at least 1 year, you can be nominated to attend the ADW LITE (Leaders Inspired to Evangelize) Retreat held annually in the summer. After you attend the LITE Retreat , you can apply to also be part of the ADW Youth Leadership Team. "The AYLT is comprised of youth leaders from across the Archdiocese who serve as the voice of the youth in the ADW and provide leadership in their parishes, communities, deaneries, regions and the Archdiocese at large. Responsibilities include helping to plan and participating in the Mass and Rally for Life, being a part of the LITE core team, planning regional/deanery events, and assisting at Archdiocesan events."
