Who Is Your Favorite Saint In Heaven?

March 20, 2025Each year I meet with every candidate to the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. This year was truly a marathon with 47 Confirmandi and 97 First Communicants. I have just completed that joyful marathon! I learn a lot from each candidate. This year we talked a lot about Heaven where we will meet God but also all the saints. In thus Jubilee Year of HOPE, we look forward to the day we will be in Heaven. Of course, the greatest grace will come from seeing God. But there will be also many graces to be in the presence of a multitude of Saints. Are you also looking forward to seeing your FAVORITE SAINT? WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SAINT IN HEAVEN?
For Confirmation, candidates need to choose one Sponsor who can assist on their Journey of Faith toward Heaven and also the name of a Saint who will be their Confirmation Name. Names are very important. They help strengthen our identity. They can inspire us to imitate great saints and get their spiritual support. I pray that Catholic parents will return to choose names of well-known Saints for their newly born children. I recall in Southern France where I was born in 1945 , parents could give names only if included in the yearly calendar of Church Feast Days. Today in the USA , children can receive all kinds of names , e.g. famous cantors or actors or national heroes (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln). Can we return to choose the most famous saints: Mary, Joseph, Peter, James, John, Paul, David, Therese, Ann, Catherine, or Elizabeth? Question: if you had to choose your confirmation name today what would it be?
You could not go wrong if you were to choose from the names of the most famous saints. Who is the greatest saint in Heaven today? MARY. She has a very special place in Heaven: God the Father chose her to be the Mother of His only begotten Son: Jesus our Savior! Only second to her is Joseph. We justcelebrated the Solemnity of St Joseph on March 19. He is the Spouse of the Mother of God! He is The Foster Father of the Son of God. He is the Head of the Holy Family. He is the Pillar of Families. He is the Protector of the Holy Church. I am proud that my own father was named Joseph. He was an amazing dad. I am most grateful to God to have given me a father truly a Joseph-like Pillar of family.
Next Tuesday is the Solemnity of the Annunciation. We will have Masses at 9 am and 7 pm followed by Consecration to Jesus through Mary and a candle-lit Rosary. We will write more about Mary! She is the one always leading us to Jesus!
As you have heard me before, my own favorite saints are Mary, Joseph, John Vianney , John Bosco, Therese de Lisieux and Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Share with us your favorite saints so as to inspire our Confirmandi in their own selection of a patron saint.

¿QUIÉN ES SU SANTO FAVORITO EN EL CIELO?Cada año me reuno con cada candidato que recibirá el Sacramento de Primera Comunión y Confirmación. Este año fue realmente un maratón con 47 para Confirmación y 97 para Primera Comunión. Recien termine esta alegre maraton. Aprendi mucho de cada candidato. Este año hablamos mucho acerca del Cielo donde nos reuniremos con Dios y con todos los Santos. En este año del Jubileo de la ESPERANZA, miramos el día en que estaremos en el Cielo. Por supuesto, el don más grande vendrá de ver a Dios. Sino que también muchos dones al estar en presencia de una multitud de Santos. ¿Estás buscando la manera de ver a TU SANTO FAVORITO? ¿QUIÉN ES TU SANTO FAVORITO EN EL CIELO?
Para Confirmación, los candidatos necesitan escoger un Padrino madrina que los ayude en su Camino de Fe y también el nombre de un Santo que será su nombre de Confirmación. Los nom- bres son muy importantes.Nos ayudan a fortalecer nuestra identidad. Nos pueden inspirar a imitar a grandes santos y su apoyo espiritual. Rezo para que los padres católicos vuelvan a escoger nombres de Santos bien conocidos para sus hijos recién nacidos. Me acuerdo que en el Sur de Francia donde yo nací en 1045 los padres solo podían nombrar a sus hijos con los nombres que estuvieran incluidos en el calendario anual de los Días Festivos de la Iglesia. Hoy en los Estados Unidos los niños reciben nombres de cantantes y actores famosos o de héroes Nacionales (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln) .Podemos volver a los santos más famosos: Santa Maria, San Jose, Pedro, Santiago, Juan, Pablol, David, Teresa, Ana, Catalina, Elisabeth? Pregunta: Si usted tuviera que escoger su nombre de Confirmación cual seria?
No se puede equivocar si escoge los nombres más famosos. ¿Quién es el santo más importante en el cielo hoy? MARIA. Ella tiene un lugar muy especial en el Cielo: Dios Padre la escogió para ser la madre de Su único Hijo: Jesus nuestro Salvador! Solo en segundo lugar está San José. Recientemente celebramos la solemnidad de San José el 19 de Marzo. Él es el esposo de la Madre de Dios! Él es el padre adoptivo del Hijo de Dios. Él es el encargado de la Sagrada Familia. El es el Pilar de las Familias. Él es el protector de la Santa Iglesia. Me siento muy orgulloso de que mi padre fue nombrado Jose. Él era un maravilloso padre. Estoy muy agradecido con Dios que me dio un verdadero padre como San José el pilar de mi familia.
El próximo Martes es la solemnidad de la Anunciación. Tendremos misas a las 9 am y 7 pm (después de la Consagración a Jesus por Maria y un Rosario con velas. Escribiremos mas acerca Maria! Ella es la única que nos dirige hacia Jesús!
Como habrán escuchado antes, mis santos favoritos son Santa Maria, San Jose, San Juan Vianney, Don Bosco, Santa Teresa de Lisieux y Madre Teresa de Calcutta. Comparta con nosotros cuales son sus santos favoritos para inspirar a los niños de Confirmación en su decisión .
