Have you ever walked with Jesus outside the walls of our church?
COME AND JOIN BISHOP DORSONVILLE THIS SUNDAY JUNE 19. He will lead our outdoor Eucharistic Procession at 12:30 PM right after celebrating with us the 11:30 AM Mass.
You may wonder why a Bishop is coming to Waldorf: we are celebrating the completion of our First Year of EUCHARISTIC RENEWAL on the Day of CORPUS CHRISTI, the SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST.
This all began with our " Little" Eucharistic Miracle a year ago. Do you remember the abandoned Consecrated Host at the foot of our statue of Our Lady of Fatima over one year ago (April 2021)? Have you already come and prayed there through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima? Mini- miracles, signs of GOD and His Mother Mary, have already happened at the very place where we have now displayed the picture of the Consecrated Host with the HEART OF BLOOD (www.olhoc.com/little-eucharistic-miracle)
We have put the emphasis on the GREATEST MIRACLE: the transformation of the bread and wine into the BODY AND BLOOD of Christ at every Mass. We have emphasized the importance of receiving Jesus in the Holy Communion with utmost REVERENCE, BEING in a state of grace, having received forgiveness of our grave/mortal sins in the sacrament of Reconciliation, including acts of violence, verbal abuse, pornography, fornication, thefts, abortions, major lies, substance abuse (drugs, alcohol), missing Mass on Sunday's and Holy Days of Obligation (without any reasons such as illness) or any actions intended to separate us from God deliberately.
Why processing outdoor with the Blessed Sacrament? This has been a tradition of the Catholic Church for centuries. This is all about EVANGELIZATION: we cannot keep Jesus inside the walls of our churches. We need to go out and evangelize. This is part of our CALL TO HOLINESS: since our baptism, we are all called to be holy. This means that we are set apart to be with God not only in heaven, but right now right here on earth. This means that we have to share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Risen Lord, who dies for our sins and promises us eternal life. Remember our parish motto: bringing ALL to Christ, sharing Christ with ALL, being ONE IN CHRIST. For us Catholics, the Eucharist is at the center of our Life. The Eucharist unites us in the BODY OF CHRIST, the Church community on earth and in heaven (saints).
We will continue to focus on Eucharistic Renewal at our parish. At the same time, our Parish Council has endorsed to continue giving priority to our Children and Youth. Our latest Liturgy Planning meeting (involving representatives of key liturgical ministries) has also recommended that we enter into the YEAR OF ST JOHN BOSCO, Promoter of the devotion to Our Lady Help of Christians, Lover of the Eucharist, and Patron Saint of Youth. You recall His Vision of the Church as a boat being saved by being anchored to two large pillars: the EUCHARIST and MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS.
Let us pray for all our Youth, especially those going to the Camp in Georgia this month, and those going to the Holy Land next month. Let us pray for our newly ordained Deacon, Juan Pablo who gave an inspiring homily at his first preaching last Sunday. Let us also pray for all Fathers and Grandfathers as we celebrate Father’s Day!
One in Christ,
Father Alain
