Old Simeon Finds Peace in Christ!

February 8, 2024As I am getting older I feel closer to Simeon. He had been awaiting to see the Christ of the Lord as St Luke tells us (Chapter 2: 22-40):
“It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord.” But you do not have to be 78-year old to appreciate this amazing encounter between Simeon and baby Jesus.
We are all looking for JESUS to be the LIGHT of our life and bring PEACE to our hearts. This what happened to Simeon: he was in the temple of Jerusalem when Mary and Joseph came to present him to the Lord! First day that the Son of God entered the Temple of Jerusalem. He was there! He took Baby Jesus (40-day old) into his arm and blessed God, saying:
"Now, Master, you may let your servant go in PEACE , according to your word, for my eyes have SEEN your SALVATION, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples, a LIGHT for revelation to the Gentiles, and GLORY for your people Israel”.
Since your Baptism, you have become a child of God while your godfather held for you a beautiful candle: "THE LIGHT OF CHRIST”. This Light of Christ is still shining upon you! Last Friday (February 2nd) , we celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord . At the beginning of Mass, I blessed all candles brought in the Narthex before entering the church in solemn procession with incense and lit candles. And then, I proclaimed Luke’s above Gospel of the first entrance of the Lord Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:22- 40). I was filled with Joy! I could feel the Light of Christ shining upon me! My heart was singing: "Christ be my light! Shine upon me as your baby face shone upon Simeon!"
Next time you come to ADORE Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament , remember the encounter of Jesus and Simeon. Feel that bright Light of Jesus in the Eucharist shining upon you! The Eucharistic Face of Jesus is looking at you and the Light of Jesus is penetrating your heart ! Jesus is bringing PEACE into your heart as he did to Simeon 2,000 years ago!
This coming Wednesday February 14 is ASH WEDNESDAY: the beginning of the 40 days of LENT: a time of repentance, prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Our Lenten theme this year is «PENANCE and EUCHARISTIC ADORATION«
COME to our PENANCE SERVICE, Monday, March 4th 7 PM (we will have 12 priests).
COME and participate in the 40-hour ADORATION: from 8 PM Thursday, March 14th to NOON Saturday, March 16th including
EUCHARISTIC RETREAT for all parishioners from 8 AM till NOON that same Saturday.
May we pray with Simeon that each of us will have a special encounter with the Light of Christ this Lent and find PEACE in our hearts!

El Anciano Simeon Encuentra Paz en Cristo!
Ahora que me estoy volviendo mayor me siento mas como Simeon. El habia estado esperando ver al Cristo del Senor como nos dijo San Lucas
(Capitulo 2: 22-40) :“ Le habia sido revelado por el Espiritu Santo que el no moriria antes de ver al Cristo del Señor.” Usted no tiene que tener 78 años de edad para apreciar este maravilloso encuentro entre Simeon y el bebe Jesus.
Todos estamos buscando a JESUS para que sea la LUZ de nuestra vida y lleve PAZ a nuestros corazones. Esto es lo que le paso a Simeon: estando en el Templo de Jerusalem cuando Maria y Jose llegaron a presentarlo al Señor! El primer dia que el Hijo de Dios entraba en el Templo de Jerusalem. El estaba alli! El tomo al Bebe Jesus de (40-dias) en sus brazos y bendijo a Dios, diciendo:
« Ahora, Señor, puedes dejar que tu siervo se vaya en PAZ, de acuerdo a Tu palabra, porque mis ojos han VISTO tu SALVACION, la cual preparaste a la vista de toda la gente, una LUZ para revelacion de los Gentiles y GLORIA para tu pueblo Israel”.
Desde su Bautismo, se ha convertido en hijo de Dios mientras su padrino sostenia una vela para usted: LA LUZ DE CRISTO”. Esta luz de Cristo todavia esta brillando sobre usted! El Viernes pasado (2 de Febrero), celebramos la Fiesta de la Presentacion del Senor. Al principio de la Misa, bendije todas las velas que trajeron en el Narthex antes de entrar a la iglesia en la solemne procesion con incienso y velas encendidas. Entonces, Proclame el Evangelio de Lucas acerca de la primera entrada del Senor Jesus al Templo (Lucas 2:22-40). Estaba lleno de Alegria! Podia sentir la Luz de Cristo brillando sobre mi! Mi corazon estaba cantando: « Cristo se mi luz, brilla sobre mi, asi como rostro del bebe Jesus brillo sobre Simeon! »
La proxima vez que venga a ADORAR a Jesus en el Santisimo Sacramento, recuerde el encuentro entre Jesus y Simeon. Sienta esa Luz Brillante de Jesus en la Eucaristia brillando sobre usted! El Rostro Eucaristico de Jesus esta buscandolo y la Luz de Jesus esta penetrando en su corazon! Jesus esta trayendonos PAZ al corazon como lo hizo con Simeon hace 2,000 años!
Este Miercoles que viene es 14 de Febrero y es MIERCOLES DE CENIZA: el principio de los 40 dias de CUARESMA: un tiempo de arrepentimiento, oracion, ayuno y de dar limosna. Nuesto tema de Cuaresma de este año es « PENITENCIA y ADORACION EUCARISTICA «
VENGA a nuestro SERVICIO DE CONFESIONES - Lunes, 4 de Marzo 7 PM (tendremos 12 sacerdotes).
VENGA y participe en las 40-horas de ADORACION: desde las 8 PM Jueves, 14 de Marzo a MEDIODIA, Sabado, 16 de Marzo incluyendo un RETIRO EUCARISTICO para todos los parroquianos desde las 8 AM hasta MEDIODIA el mismo Sabado.
Oremos junto a Simeon para que cada uno de nosotros tenga un encuentro especial con la Luz de Cristo en esta Cuaresma y encontremos PAZ en nuestros corazones!
