 HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE!

This is the way I began my homily addressing our 72 children before they received their First Holy Communion. The church was packed. The children were in the front pews. Their parents had come early to be in the back pews of the Church. The late comers had to stay in the Narthex. throughout the entire Mass you could sense the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Church was filled with JOY!

It was last Saturday we were on the eve of Pentecost, the Feast of the Holy Spirit. In my 15 years at OLHOC, I do not recall having had such a large number of First Communicants. They were all dressed up for the occasion. They all radiated a deep Joy throughout the long Mass (close to 90 minutes) they displayed reverence!

They all had come to receive Jesus in their hearts for the first time. They were excited by such a first encounter with Jesus.

They understood that Jesus their best friend, was coming to meet them for the first time. I told them that at every Mass Jesus is coming on the altar as the Bread of Life. From Jesus’ Bread of Life Discourse we can never forget his amazing words filled with HOPE: I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE...Whoever eats this Bread will live forever ( John 6:58).

This Bread of Life is THE BODY OF CHRIST. At the time of consecration of the offerings of bread and wine, I will say the words Jesus gave us at the Last Supper: TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY GIVEN UP FOR YOU...TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

This is the great Miracle of the Eucharist, the greatest miracle occurring at every Mass. God gives us this greatest gift! He loves us so much! My joy was to give each of the 72 communicants their First Eucharist and to see in their eyes their Love of Jesus!

My prayer for each one of the 72 First Communicants is that may this First Encounter with Christ be the beginning of a lifelong close relationship with their best friend Jesus.

With each of them, let us pray:

Jesus help me to experience your Love in the Eucharist! Jesus I know you love me. Jesus, help me to love you always and to love everyone I encounter seeing your own face in them!

De esta manera empece la homilía dirigiéndome a nuestros 72 niños antes de que recibieran su Primera Comunión. La Iglesia estaba llena. Los niños estaban en las bancas del frente. Sus padres que llegaron temprano estaban en las bancas de atrás. Los que llegaron tarde se quedaron en la entrada del recibidor de la iglesia. Durante toda la Misa usted pudo sentir la presencia del Espíritu Santo. La Iglesia estaba llena de ALEGRÍA!

El Sábado pasado, estábamos en la Víspera de Pentecostes, La Festividad del Espíritu Santo. En mis 15 años de estar en Maria Auxiliadora, no recuerdo que hubiéramos tenido esta cantidad tan grande de niños recibiendo la Primera Comunión. Todos vestían para la ocasión. Todos irradiaban una profunda Alegría. Durante toda la larga Misa (alrededor de 90 minutos) mostraron mucha reverencia!

Todos recibieron a Jesus en sus corazones por primera vez. Estaban muy emocionados por este primer encuentro con Jesus.

Entendieron que Jesus su mejor amigo, había venido para encontrarse con ellos por primera vez. Les dije que en cada Misa Jesus viene al altar como dice el discurso del Pan de Vida nunca podremos olvidar esas maravillosas palabras llenas con ESPERANZA: YO SOY EL PAN DE VIDA... Todo el que coma de este Pan vivirá para siempre (Juan 6:58).

Este Pan de Vida es EL CUERPO DE CRISTO. Al momento de la Consagracion del Ofertorio del Pan y el Vino, dire las palabras que Jesus nos dio en la Última Cena: TOMEN TODOS USTEDES Y COMAN DE ÉL, PORQUE ESTE ES MI CUERPO ENTREGADO POR USTEDES... TOMEN TODOS USTEDES Y BEBAN DE ÉL, PORQUE ESTE ES EL CÁLIZ DE MI SANGRE, SANGRE DE LA ALIANZA NUEVA Y ETERNA, QUE SE DERRAMARA POR USTEDES Y POR MUCHOS PARA EL PERDÓN DE LOS PECADOS. HAGAN ESTO EN MEMORIA MÍA.

Este es el gran milagro de la Eucaristía, el más grande milagro que sucede en cada Misa. Dios nos ha dado este gran regalo! El nos ama mucho! Mi gran alegría fue haberle dado a cada uno de los 72 niños de Primera Comunión su Primera Eucaristía y ver en sus ojos su amor por Jesús!

Mis oraciones por cada uno de los 72 niños de Primera Comunion es que este primer encuentro con Cristo sea el principio de una larga relacion cercanos con su mejor amigo Jesus.

Con cada uno de ellos, Oremos:

Jesús ayúdame a experimentar tu Amor en la Eucaristía! Jesus yo se que me amas, ayúdame a amarte siempre y así amar a todos con los que me encuentre y ver Tu rostro en ellos!
