Convert, Repent and Reconcile!

March 27, 2025On this Third Sunday of Lent Year C (Year of St Luke), Jesus blesses all of us with one of his most powerful parables: The Prodigal Son.
I invite all of you to meditate on this well -known parable as part of your Lenten Journey in this JUBILEE Year of HOPE. Contemplate the famous painting of Rembrandt « The Return of the Prodigal Son ». This painting was displayed at St John XXIII Seminary in Boston. I passed by it every day during my four-year formation, A constant reminder of God’s unending Merciful Love. You can see this in the powerful embrace of the Father welcoming home his younger son dressed as a beggar, kneeling down and holding his head close to his father’s heart. You can also notice on the right side of the painting the jealous , older brother standing nearby amazed that his father welcomes back with open arms the younger son who had left home abruptly and «swallowed up half of his father’s property with prostitutes».
We know that in this parable the old father represents the God of Mercy. The two sons represent all of us sinners. Next time you enter a Confessional, remember that your Heavenly Father is welcoming you with open arms. Feel the Joy of this divine embrace. Know that God will for- give all your sins as you have chosen to change direction in your life, by turning toward Him (Conversion), by repenting for your sins and by desiring to reconcile with God and all your brothers and sisters: Convert, Repent and Reconcile!If you have not yet gone to Confession this Lent, God is calling you right now: to come and visit Him in the Confessional. He wants you to be reconciled with Him as well as your brothers and sisters before we enter into the Holy Week (3 weeks away). Be prepared to join Jesus in His Passion, Death and Resurrection. Come and celebrate that Joy at the greatest celebration of the Year: the EASTER VIGIL (8 PM Saturday, April 19th).
May God grant all of us the Grace of Reconciliation in this Jubilee Year of Hope!

Conversión, Arrepentimiento y Reconciliación!En este tercer domingo del Año C (Año de San Lucas), Jesus nos bendice con una de las parábolas más poderosas: El Hijo Prodigo.
Los invito a meditar sobre esta muy conocida parábola como parte de este camino Cuaresmal en este Año JUBILAR de la ESPERANZA. Contemplemos la famosa pintura de Rembrandt «El Regreso del Hijo Pródigo». Esta pintura está expuesta en el Seminario San Juan XXIII en Boston. Yo pasaba frente a él todos los días durante mis cuatro años de formación, un recordatorio constante del amor misericordioso y eterno de Dios. Pueden ver este poderoso abrazo del Padre dándole la bienvenida al hogar a su hijo menor vestido como un mendigo, arrodillándose y sosteniendo su cabeza cerca del corazón de su Padre. También puede notar en el lado derecho de la pintura al hermano mayor parado cerca mostrándose celoso y sorprendido de que su padre estaba dándole la bienvenida a su hijo menor con los brazos abiertos quien se había ido de repente y « se había malgastado la mitad de las propiedades de su padre con prostitutas».
Sabemos que en esta parábola el padre anciano representa al Misericordioso Dios. Los dos hijos representan a todos nosotros pecadores. La próxima vez que entre al Confesionario, recuerde que su Padre Celestial le está dando la bienvenida con los brazos abiertos.Sienta la Alegría de su abrazo divino. Sepa que Dios perdona todos sus pecados cuando ha escogido cambiar de dirección en su vida, yvolviendo a Él (Conversion), arrepintiéndose y desean reconciliarse con Dios y con todos tus hermanos y hermanas: Conversión, Arrepentimiento y Reconciliación!
Si aún no ha ido a confesion en esta Cuaresma, Dios esta llamandote ahora mismo:Venga a visitarlo en el Confesionario. Él quiere que te reconcilies con Él y así también con tus hermanos y hermanas antes de que entremos en la Semana Santa (dentro de 3 semanas). Prepárese para unirse a Jesús en Su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección. Venga y celebre la Alegría en la más grandiosa celebración del Año: la VIGILIA DE PASCUA (Sábado, 19 de Abril a las 8 PM).
Que Dios nos conceda la Gracia de la Reconciliación en este Año Jubilar de la Esperanza!
