For Catholics, the source and summit of our sacramental life is the Eucharist.
• The Eucharist is both thanksgiving table and altar of sacrifice. In the Paschal Mystery, Jesus sacrifices his life on the Cross so that we may one day enter the one eternal banquet in heaven.
• Jesus Christ is present to us at Mass in the Word proclaimed, the Eucharist – Body and Blood of Christ, the Priest who acts in the person of Christ and the Faithful who are gathered as the Body of Christ.
• Catholics have the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.
• The requirements for the fruitful reception of Holy Communion are unity of life (being in a state of grace), unity of faith (belief, practicing RC) and fasting (food) for one hour before receiving Holy Communion.
“When you walk into Mass next Sunday, simply ask God in the quiet of your heart, God, show me one way in this Mass that I can become a-better-version-of-myself this week! Then listen. A critical component of successful relationships that is missing from our spiritual lives is listening. Listen to what God is saying to you in the music, through the readings, in the homily. Listen to the prayers of the Mass, and listen to the quiet of your heart. The one thing will strike you. Once it is revealed to you, spend the rest of the Mass praying about how you can live that one thing in the coming week.” (from Matthew Kelly, Dynamic Catholic)
We need to practice listening so we can hear God clearly. We pray that these exercises in reflecting on the Word of the Lord will help you grow and experience His love and guidance. May each time we go to Mass be an opportunity to have an intimate encounter with God who is constantly is trying to speak to us.
The Mass reflection sheets is a spiritual tool to help us be more attentive during Mass, apply the readings to our live and grow in our relationship with Christ and those around us.
Please submit the reflection sheets at our monthly workshops or submit the reflections below:
