Do you believe in Eucharistic Miracles? I do! Do you believe in the "little" Eucharistic miracle that happened at OLHOC end of April 2021? I do! I pray you do too. ÀMEN!
Looking back to the last 12 months at OLHOC, we have much to be THANKFUL TO GOD. The pandemic has reminded many of us that we took the EUCHARIST for granted. THE TIME OF EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL HAS COME! We had a record participation of parishioners at our outdoor PROCESSION ON CORPUS CHRISTI. The 90-degree heat and humidity did not stop us! It was TIME FOR JESUS TO GO OUT of our church and remind us that we need to strive for BRINGING ALL TO HIM, SHARING HIM WITH ALL AND BEING ONE IN HIM THROUGH THE EUCHARIST!
In the last few weeks, we are all grateful to God that we have returned to "NORMALCY" and have experienced the JOY of increased participation at Mass. The lifting of the dispensation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation (effective June 26-27) has encouraged people to return to church, to go back to CONFESSION and receive the EUCHARIST. PRAISE THE LORD!
THE EUCHARIST IS THE SOURCE AND SUMMIT OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE (Catechism of the Catholic Church CCC 1324). The Eucharist is the SUM AND SUMMARY OF OUR FAITH (CCC 1327). The Eucharist UNITES US IN JESUS CHRIST. Through the Eucharist, we all BECOME ONE IN CHRIST. Do you truly believe this? LISTEN TO JESUS:
"I AM THE LIVING BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN; WHOEVER EATS THIS BREAD WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE; and the bread that I will give is MY FLESH FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD. The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Jesus said to them, AMEN, AMEN, I say to you, unless you EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, you do not have life within you. WHOEVER EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD HAS ETERNAL LIFE, and I WILL RAISE HIM ON THE LAST DAY. For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood REMAINS IN ME AND I IN HIM." (John 6: 51-56)
Jesus could not be clearer. What happens at every Mass is what Jesus promises us. It is the GREATEST GIFT OF LOVE, the GREATEST MIRACLE, at Consecration, JESUS COMES TO US, BODY, BLOOD, SOUL, AND DIVINITY! This transforms our entire life while on earth and leads us on the way to eternal life. Do you BELIEVE it? This is our FAITH. As St Paul reminds us "WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT" (2 Corinthians 5: 7). Faith is a GIFT FROM GOD. When we receive the Eucharist at Mass, we become WALKING TABERNACLES. We then truly WALK BY FAITH. We walk with Jesus inside us as we go back to our pews; we then kneel down and MEDITATE IN SILENCE as we become ONE IN CHRIST, we become WHO WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED. We become UNITED IN CHRIST AND WITH CHRIST. We become ONE IN THE EUCHARIST! We need that unity more than ever!
I believe that God gave a SIGN to our parish, a little HEART OF BLOOD appearing in the consecrated host that had been abandoned for 15 hours at the foot of Our Lady of Fatima. Yes, Jesus is REALLY PRESENT IN THE EUCHARIST: BODY AND BLOOD! Do you believe this? It is all about FAITH IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, our Savior. In our materialistic society, increasingly secular and away from God, we need to WALK BY FAITH! We need to walk with Christ and bring others to HIM.
Our Parish Council is meeting later this week and will discuss how we can promote a full YEAR OF EUCARISTIC REVIVAL at OLHOC, building on the foundation of our "little" miracle of the Eucharist. Your ideas and suggestions are most welcome. We will also pray on the celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus this Friday June 11 (7 am, 9 am and 7 pm Masses) and the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, this Saturday June 12 (9 am Mass). In particular, we will pray during the whole night in ADORATION (8 pm through 9 am) of the Blessed Sacrament following the 7 pm Mass and devotion to the two Hearts (Jesus and Mary):
"May the Hearts of Jesus and Mary guide our parish in promoting the Love, Respect and Adoration of the Eucharist in the coming days and months. May the Holy Spirit give us the courage and wisdom to share our Love of the Eucharist with others, and inspire them to come and worship with us!”
One in Christ,
Fr. Alain
