Time To Go! Time To Give Thanks To God For Fr. Jan!

June 19, 2025Fr Jan is completing his fourth year with us, a record for our first seven Parochial Vicars at OLHOC. His last day is next Sunday June 29, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the Apostles. Let’s give thanks to God for all the blessings our youngest Parochial Vicar so far (33-year-old) brought to our parish. I can speak for many of you, including our youth and their parents, our elderly, our sick and all of us facing sufferings, when I give thanks to God for many of the priestly and pastoral qualities of Father Jan: his love and attention for our young parishioners, his deep love of Christ and the Word of God inspiring his fiery homilies on Sundays, his dedication to the formation of our altar boys (25 of them processed with Fr Carlos, Fr. Jan and me last Holy Thursday), his passionate love for the sick and the homebound, his leading four annual retreats for our confirmands the last two years, his love of the music ministry and his many talents as musician himself: singer, pianist and percussionist (drums...) . We will all have an opportunity to say “good-bye” to him and wish him the best in his new assignment: join us in the Narthex at 11 AM on Sunday, June 29th, at the end of the 10 AM Mass and before the beginning of the 11:30 AM Mass.
Last week I wrote to you about my successor Father Agustin Lopez, to welcome him before he takes the leadership of our parish July 9. I also invite you to write him a letter before he arrives. Many of you have already done so (see detailed instruction in my column of last week: Time to go, Time to pray, Time to welcome our new pastor). I am meeting Fr. Lopez this Tuesday, so you have time to give me your letter in a sealed envelope this weekend.As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, CORPUS CHRISTI, you are all invited to join us at the 11:30 am Mass which will conclude with an Outdoor Eucharistic Procession. We will have three places where we will adore the Blessed Sacrament in silence and music: first stop will be at the foot of our large outdoor Crucifix (about 10 minutes), second one at the intersection of St Thomas Drive and St Charles Parkway, and the last one at the Lake across St Charles Parkway.
May our belief of the Real Presence of the Body of Christ in the Eucharist remain at the center of our Faith!

TIEMPO DE IRSE! ¡TIEMPO DE DAR GRACIAS A DIOS POR Padre JAN!Padre Jan ha completado su cuarto año con nosotros, un récord para nuestros anteriores siete Vicarios aquí en Maria Auxiliadora. Su último dia es el proximo Domingo 29 de junio, la Solemnidad de los Apostoles San Pedro y San Pablo. Demos gracias a Dios por todas las bendiciones que nuestro joven Vicario (33 años de edad) ha traído a nuestra parroquia. Su gran amor por los feligreses jóvenes, Sus fuertes homilías los Domingos, Su completa dedicación en la formación de los servidores del altar: 25 de ellos entraron en procesión junto a Padre Carlos, Padre Jan y conmigo hacia el Santuario el pasado Jueves Santo, su amor apasionado por los enfermos y los que no pueden salir de casa Su liderazgo para los cuatro retiros anuales para nuestros niños/niñas de Confirmación por los pasados dos años, Su amor por el ministerio de música y sus múltiples talentos como músico: cantante, pianista y percusionista (tambores...). Tendremos la oportunidad de decirle “adiós” y desearle lo mejor en su nueva asignación: reúnase con nosotros en la entrada de la iglesia a las 11 AM el Domingo 29 de junio, al finalizar la Misa de 10 AM o antes de que inicie la Misa de las 11:30 AM.
La semana pasada les escribí acerca de mi sucesor Padre Agustín Lopez para darle la bienvenida antes de que tome el liderazgo de la parroquia el 9 de Julio. Tambien les invite a escribirle una carta antes de que llegue. Muchos de ustedes ya lo han hecho (vean todas las instrucciones en mi columna de la semana pasada: Tiempo de Irse, Tiempo de Orar, Tiempo de darle la bienvenida al nuevo pastor. Me estaré reuniendo con Padre López este jueves; solo deme la carta en un sobre sellado este fin de semana.
Ya que celebramos la Solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo, CORPUS CRISTI, todos están invitados a participar en la Misa de las 11:30 am la cual concluirá con una Procesión Eucarística en los alrededores. Tendremos treslugares donde adoraremos al Santísimo Sacramento en silencio y música: la primera parada será al pie del Crucifijo que está afuera (alrededor de 10 minutos), la segunda parada será en el cruce de la Calle St Thomas y la calle principal San Charles, y la última sera al otro lado del laguito del la misma calle principal de San Charles.
¡Que nuestra creencia en la Presencia Real del Cuerpo de Cristo en la Eucaristía permanezca en el centro de nuestra Fe!
