SHARING THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS!!!

December 19, 2024This is a time of the year to share the Joy of Christmas with others. Joy is contagious! I hope this Advent has already been filled with the Joy of preparing the Coming of Christ in our own hearts. Let me begin by sharing one of my own experiences. I love Silent Adoration. I can feel the power of the Light of the Holy Spirit radiate into my heart. There is a sense of Peace. A sense that my heart is resting with the Lord. He is within me. This Advent Season, I heard in this great silence several times one of my favorite verses from Isaiah: "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light." (Isaiah 9:1) and it continues: "You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing...for a child is born unto us, a son is given us. They named him Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast and forever peaceful" (Isaiah 9:2-6). This is the coming of the Messiah, the expectation we have had since the beginning of Advent. This is our moving from Darkness into Light. This is the time to REJOICE at the First Coming of the Son of God on earth! HE IS OUR LIGHT. HE is our only Light. We are lighting the Fourth Candle of Love this Fourth Sunday of Advent! In these last few days of Advent, I invite you to reflect on the moments of Joy you have experienced this Year, and to share them with your family and friends. This is the time to SHARE THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS!
We can be grateful to God for all the blessings HE has poured upon our parish and parishioners this Advent. Here are three events you can reflect on:
1. The Advent Retreat with Father Gunter, MIC: "The Light of the Holy Spirit" with preaching at all Masses First Sunday Advent, special documentary on Holy woman Anna Maria, four talks, Silent Holy Hour and Mass of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Light that can guide and transform our lives.
2. Christmas Concert Lessons and Carols Friday, December 13. A first for OLHOC and such a great success that people requested this to become an annual event. Five of our choirs were there and all performances were outstanding: singing in English, Tagalog, French, Latin and Spanish. We also had time to meditate on beautiful Scriptures.
3. The Nine Masses before Christmas: they just began 5 pm on Sunday December 15 with great Joy, including beautiful singing by a large Philipino choir. This event is continuing daily through Monday December 23. All Masses are in English. With the exception of 5 pm Mass Sunday 22, they all begin at 7 pm. If you attend all 9 Masses, you receive amazing blessings in preparation for Christmas. If you have not yet participated , join us for the last 2 Masses: 5 pm Sunday with Msgr. John Paul Pedrera, Counsellor to Papal Nuncio Cardinal Pierre, and 7 pm Mass with Fr. Isaac Sagastume celebrating his First Mass with us (you may remember him as seminarian Isaac who was with us for two years). Everyone is invited to come and celebrate after this ninth and last Novena Mass with much singing, fellowship, gifts for children and food (Pot Luck) in the Father Martin Hall.
We would appreciate it if you could share your feedback with us: what was the most memorable event for you? What was your greatest Joy? We can all learn from each other. My favorite event was the Advent Retreat, especially the amazing story of Anna Maria and our learning from her spirituality. I will never forget the Power of the Light of the Holy Spirit in my heart. A close second was the Christmas Concert Carols and Lessons. The entire Church was filled with Joy by each of the five Choirs. Our hearts were being uplifted toward Heaven. First prize for me goes to our Children's Choir. I invite you to come to the 5 pm Children's Mass on Christmas Eve and do not miss the 4:30 pm Carols by our Children's Choir. They are awesome: they are Pure Joy!

Father Alain¡¡¡COMPARTIENDO LA ALEGRÍA DE LA NAVIDAD!!!Este es el tiempo en que compartimos la Alegría de la Navidad con los demás. La alegria es contagiosa! Espero que este Adviento ya esté lleno con la Alegría de la preparación de la Venida de Cristo en nuestros corazones. Permítanme compartirles mis propias experiencias. Me encanta la Adoración en Silencio especialmente durante la noche. Puedo sentir el poder de la Luz del Espíritu Santo irradiar dentro de mi corazón. Hay una sensación de Paz. La sensación de que mi corazón está descansando con el Señor. El esta conmigo. En este Adviento, escuche en este gran silencio al Senor diciéndome varias veces uno de mis versiculos favoritos de Isaias :" El pueblo que ha caminado en la oscuridad, ha visto la Gran Luz."(Isaías 9: 1)y continúa :" Les ha traído abundante alegría y gran gozo... porque un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo se nos ha dado...Lo llamaran Principe de Paz... su dominio es grandioso y pacifico por siempre "(Isaías 9: 2-6). Esta es la Venida del Mesias, la gran espera que tenemos desde el principio del Adviento. Este es el paso de la Oscuridad hacia la Luz. Este es el tiempo de ALEGRARSE por la Primera Venida del Hijo de dios a la Tierra ! EL ES NUESTRA LUZ. El es nuestra unica Luz. Estaremos encendiendo la Cuarta Vela del amor este Cuarto Domingo de Adviento! En estos ultimos pocos dias de Adviento, los invito a reflexionar sobre los momentos de alegría que han experimentado este Año, y compartirlo con su familia y amigos. Este es el tiempo de COMPARTIR LA ALEGRÍA DE LA NAVIDAD!.Estemos agradecidos con Dios por todas las bendiciones que Él ha derramado sobre nuestra parroquia y sus feligreses en este Adviento. Aquí están algunas actividades en las que puede reflexionar:
1. La solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción el Lunes 9 de Diciembre ( La Consagracion de Jesus por Maria a final de las Misas/ Rosario con Velas después de la Misa de las 7 pm)
2. La Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Maria Auxiliadora ( la iglesia estaba llena a las 5 de la mañana , una procesión larguísima de gente llevando flores a Nuestra Señora, había parejas de rodillas en oración, y la representación del milagro de la Tilma con Juan Diego y el Obispo, con dos horas de acompañamiento de mariachis, chocolate y tamales para todos )--- posteriormente la Caminata con Maria hacia la Basílica a través de las calles de Washington el 14 de Diciembre) con la asistencia de aproximadamente 100 feligreses, la asistencia más grande que ha habido en Maria Auxiliadora...
3. El Concierto y Lecciones Navideñas el 13 de Diciembre. La Primera vez en Maria Auxiliadora que fue un gran éxito y la gente lo pidió que se vuelva un evento anual 5 de nuestros coros estuvieron e realizaron grandes presentaciones: cantando en Ingles, Tagalod, Frances, Latin y Español.. También tuvimos tiempo para meditar en las bellas Escrituras.
4. La Novena de Misas antes de Navidad: acaban de empezar el Domingo 15 de Diciembre a las 5 pm con gran Alegría , incluyendo hermosos cantos por el Coro Filipino. Estas actividades continuarán diariamente hasta el Lunes 23 de Diciembre. Todas las Misas son en Inglés. Esperando la Misa del 22 de Diciembre, todo empezará a las 7 pm. Si asiste a las 9 Misas recibirá sorprendentes bendiciones en preparación para Navidad. Si no ha participado, únase a nosotros en las últimas dos misas: Domingo a las 5 pm con Msgr. John Paul Pradera, Consejero del Papa Nuncio Cardenal Pierre, y a las 7 pm en la Misa con Isaac Sagastume celebrará su Primera Misa con nosotros ( probablemente lo recuerden como el Diacono Isaac quien estuvo con nosotros como seminarista por dos años) . Todos están invitados a participar y celebrar después de la novena y última Misa con muchos cantos, hermandad, regalos para los niños y comida (Comida de Traje) en el Salon Parroquial Padre Martin.
Apreciamos mucho sus comentarios con nosotros: ¿Cuál fue la actividad más memorable para usted?Cuál fue su Alegría más grande? Todos podemos aprender de cada uno. Mi evento favorito fue el Retiro de Adviento, especialmente la sorprendente historia de Anna Maria y nuestro aprendizaje acerca de su espiritualidad . Nunca olvidare el Poder de la Luz del Espiritu Santo en mi corazon. Una muy cercana fue el Concierto y las Lecciones Navideñas. La Iglesia completa estaba llena de Alegría con cada coro. Nuestros corazones se elevaron hacia el cielo. El Primer lugar para mi fue el Coro de Ninos. Los invito a que vengan a la Misa de los Ninos a las 5 pm en la Noche Buena y no se pierdan los cantos navideños a las 4:30 pm también por los niños. Ellos son sorprendentes. Son la Pura Alegría! De parte de Padre Jan, Padre Carlos, Diacono Rich, Diacono Bill, Sor Rosario , nuestro Personal y los muchos dedicados voluntarios, les deseamos a ustedes y sus familias la más Bendecida Navidad! Para que puedan encontrar la Alegría de darle la bienvenida al recién nacido Rey en nuestro corazones, y que Dios los siga bendiciendo a todos!
