Letter of Intent to the Pastor
Please write a formal letter of request to the Pastor stating your desire to receive the
Sacrament of Confirmation.
Structure of Letter:- Date of Letter
- Greeting
- Paragraph 1 - Introduce yourself and tell our pastor, Fr Alain something about yourself, your interests, hobbies, and something about your family or your background.
- Paragraph 2 - Describe to the Pastor some of the things that you have learned about yourself and your relationship with God through prayer, study, classes, service, receiving other sacraments etc. and what you feel you still need to learn.
- Paragraph 3 - Explain and give several reasons why you would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Paragraph 4 - Tell how you will continue to carry out your life of service to God and others through the power of the Holy Spirit. Describe how you plan to be involved in the church community in the future.
- Paragraph 5 - Tell about your saint name and why you have selected saint. If you haven't decided on your saint name, tell about the top 3 saints you are considering and why.
- Paragraph 6 - Thank Fr Alain for reading your letter.
- Signature

EXPLANATION OF LETTER TO THE BISHOPToward the end of Sacrament of Confirmation Preparation Year 2, you are asked to write a letter to the Bishop, or other minister assigned to confirm at our parish, requesting to be confirmed.

- Paragraph 3 - How have you prepared for the sacrament
- Paragraph 4 - Tell about your sponsor and why you chose him/her
- Paragraph 5 - Tell about your saint name and why you feel a kinship to this saint
- Paragraph 6 - Tell the Bishop how you plan to use the gifts God has given you to build up the Church, once you are confirmed.
- Paragraph 7 - Thank the Bishop for reading your letter.
